Hydrogen Highway

Decarbonizing the agribusiness value chain

Transport infrastructure is a crucial issue in the competitiveness of various productive segments in Brazil, and in Goiás it assumes large proportions: the state depends on the use of highways to transport the agricultural crop.

The development of a hydrogen refuelling network along Goiás highways is an important first step in the decarbonization of state heavy transport.  H2 fueling stations generally receive deliveries of hydrogen by tanker truck from hydrogen suppliers [AU, 2022].

The fueling process at a hydrogen station is not very different from that of a conventional gas station, but there are some details to note. Hydrogen is supplied at high pressure and, as it is an extremely volatile gas, the connection between the receptacle or vehicle connection point and the pump must be sealed.

Unlike conventional fueling stations, hydrogen is sold by the kilo, not the liter.  Depending on size, the hydrogen pump station deliver 60-120 g/s for heavy vehicles and have capacities from 200 kg/day to 2,000 kg/day

A hydrogen fueling station costs between $1 million and $4 million
