Corn Ethanol

by Sérgio Granato de Araújo

Corn ethanol production

While sugarcane ethanol production has been stagnant for the past 10 years, current corn ethanol production in Brazil has already reached around 10 billion liters (out of a total of 36 billion liters of ethanol produced in the country), a remarkable increase considering that 10 years ago there was virtually no domestic corn ethanol production.

Corn ethanol plants

Brazil currently has 25 corn ethanol plants in operation, 18 under construction, and 19 in the planning stage. Investments in corn ethanol in Brazil are expected to total 40 billion reais.
